Stuart Braithwaite allo Spazio211 – Report e intervista – Ita/Eng Version

ENG VERSION by Roberta Perduca

The live performance at Spazio 211 was certainly a surprise, positive for sure. There were no noise effects but only Stuart Braithwaite’s electric guitar and voice.

The show, as a Songwriter, for a few intimate and connoisseurs that went on stage was as far from the sounds of the Mogwai as it was interesting for the difference from them. His second very blues soul, gave the audience the opportunity to listen to something very different from what they had become accustomed to, but the warmth and intensity who those present responded make it clear how even this unusual variant has been appreciated by the audience of Turin  with both his pieces and those signed Mogwai, completed with final encore.

After the live I asked Stuart Braithwaite a few questions. I thank the tour manager and the organization of Spazio 211 for making the interview possible.

I know you’ve played in support of bands like The Cure, in a bigger context like a festival or a stadium concert, what are the best and worst things about playing in a big festival or in a club?
The worst thing about playing at a club like tonight is that I have to tune my guitar myself and as you could see I’m not very good at this instead in the big concerts I have very good tuners that do it for me. The worst thing about playing in big concerts is that sometimes while you’re playing  you hear the music of the other stages so it’s very hard to concentrate.

What is the best thing about playing at a club like this in a very intimate situation?
It’s easier.

Which one do you prefer?
I like both of them but I prefer playing with the band.

Composing soundtracks, such as the one for the science fiction film “Kin”, what is the difference between composing a soundtrack or your solo album or with the band?
I don’t think making music for one or the other is different, with the soundtrack you have to work with more people like the director and it’s a different process but composing the music for me is the same.

When will the new album with Mogwai be released?
We’ll record it this summer and come out in about a year, probably early 2021.

What do you think of the Italian audience?
I love Italy and its audience is great and also Italian red wine!
